Two years of Landmark Recovery Sucks

It was two years ago today that I launched Landmark Recovery Sucks. I had put Landmark in my rearview mirror after being one of those who were laid off on Black Friday, March 3rd, 2023. A friend had messaged me the day before asking if I had seen the news about Landmark. I took a brief look as it was late that Friday night. The next morning, I started reading the news reports about the three deaths at Mishawaka. I started reading the comments in a private Facebook group. I saw a comment where somebody claimed a C-suite employee made a comment that made my blood boil. They made a disgusting comment, making light of an employee being raped at a facility. So I decided to buy the domain and launch the website. By the end of July, I started gaining traffic. I have had countless people reach out to me with stories about issues within the facilities—some were former employees from a few years ago, and some were current employees.

Since launching this website, Landmark has lost its three Praxis facilities in Indiana, sold off two Ohio facilities, the Battle Creek and Norfolk facilities, closed the Las Vegas and one of Praxis’ facilities in Louisville, and moved the Oklahoma City staff and patients to Morrilton. Several planned facilities will no longer open. The one I am the happiest about was the one I was happiest to hear about in Wintersville. This would have been another 198-patient facility next to a private school. Admissions has failed on countless occasions to vet patients properly and has sent registered sex offenders to facilities close to schools. Landmark has only opened one facility in Colorado Springs. There have been two deaths in the facility, and two former patients were killed shortly after being AMA’d.

There are several tips that I have been unable to corroborate, so I didn’t post them. I keep hearing that the Aurora facility is a complete disaster. I have heard horror stories from every facility except the new Colorado Springs facility.

Michael Walsh had a meltdown after others and I made comments on a Landmark YouTube video. Clifford Boyle emailed me after I questioned him about allegations that he sexually harassed an employee. He denied the allegations, and a lawsuit is pending, the outcome of which I am not aware of. A class action lawsuit is pending in Indiana. Landmark settled the lawsuit for failing to pay overtime and requiring employees to work through their lunch breaks. BrightSprings Pharmerica is suing Landmark for $723,000.

Currently, Landmark is claiming to be under new ownership. Whoever handled this rebrand royally screwed it up. I would love to go into details, but I don’t want Landmark to fix the countless issues. Seriously, whoever handled this rebrand is a fool. They cut off their nose to spite their face. All of the LLCs were registered using the facility’s addresses. They started registering the LLCs after the domains were registered in April 2024.

If Landmark is not under new ownership, how much longer do they have? If Landmark is under new ownership, will they make it and survive? Based on what I am seeing, they won’t. I am keeping my findings to myself, as I don’t want to give Landmark a roadmap to fix these issues.

So, what will the next year bring? Will we see more locations closing? Will we see new locations open? Will we see the Boyles and C-suite level executives arrested? Time will tell.

  1. I was told that the Westerville OH facility was sold to someone related to the Executive Director or potentially the ED himself.

    1. This is typical Landmark. They buy a property and then sell it off. Sometimes they way over pay for the properties.
