Clinical Liason Kyle Brewer was on Good Morning Arkansas talking about how wonderful Praxis of Little Rock by Landmark Recovery is. Kyle showed off photos of the facility before its opening. I seriously doubt it is still in the same condition.
I emailed KATV and asked them to take Kyle up on his offer to tour the facility. I’d love for them to look inside and speak with patients and staff. I wonder if Kyle has toured the facility or knows what happens inside. He’s outspoken about addiction treatment and helping people recover. He would quit if he knew a fraction of what I know.
Praxis of Louisville has no defense in this. I was off the day off this murder occurred. I worked there several years. The LPN’s NEVER got up to check on pts because the PES were to perform the checks. Then management changed it so LPN’s were to perform Qchecks if PES was busy. They would just check it off on the computer with no physical checks. Angela was refusing her meds, shewas taking them and no one sent her out to a higher level of care. There have been more pts than not, desperately in need of psychiatric care, but the powers that be just give them all pretty much the same meds and keep them 21 days for the dollars and send a person in psychosis to a sober living home! Complete failure with so many patients. I read Holly’s EMR notes and it was admitted no one checked on Holly. A single room right next to the nurse’s station! Rm 19. Angela’s room was 18 which was all the way at the end of the hall by the laundry room. Fire who’s responsible and have another company take over or shut them all down!
If Angela was refusing to take her meds, does the mean Landmark lied when they she wasn’t able to take them due to insurance?
She ‘wasn’t’ taking her meds.
Yes. And in the event she had an insurance lock or something, they should have worked with the pharmacy or have their provider write the prescriptions. Pharm America is suing Landmark for a phenomenal amount because Landmark didn’t pay them, like many other vendors. Landmark can’t get meds for the patients because they don’t pay the pharmacies they keep hopping around to.
Let me add this: Angela was accepted by the admissions team. Therefore, her insurance was good, so why no medication? (As we know Praxis of Louisville was/is a Medicade facility) Because they couldn’t get it from the pharmacy for reasons I stated above. I saw them numerous times having to take meds from other patient’s out of the cart to use for a patient waiting for their meds. Some patients were 6 days deep in detox and still no meds. Horrific.
I have heard about this happening at several facilities. I am not even shocked. Nothing ever changes with Landmark.
But, the LPN’s told me when I came on shift that Angela was refusing her meds. One lies and the other swears to it.
