While I don’t know what happened, an anonymous source claims LR was forced to cancel the direct deposit on Wednesday and issue paper checks. Several people were freaking out about this. We had four new members join The Collective Facebook Group yesterday. We usually get a handful of new members a month. Several people and the admins have been following this. We were curious to know if the checks would bounce. While we are still determining if the checks will bounce, no check cashing facilities will accept them. They need help getting ahold of somebody at Landmark to verify the checks or employee’s status. The banks want to hold the checks for up to two weeks.
When this was brought up in Teams Chat, Tia Conard didn’t understand the issue’s magnitude. Well, Tia, people have rent and bills to pay. Well, Tia, people’s fears have now been confirmed.
The admins and members of the Collective feel bad for everyone who received a paper check. Please contact your local news stations and tell them your story. If you make enough noise, Landmark will get you paid sooner rather than later. If you need assistance, please reach out to me.

Update February 5, 2024
One facility has advised me that Landmark will issue paper checks until they find a new payroll vendor. Some people could get their funds released when they contacted their bank and advised that this was a payroll check.

It get’s worse. The real story is that we didn’t have enough money to fund payroll. In fact, we only have enough money in the bank for only 50% of the employees to cash checks and not bounce. Even Worse, we withheld payroll tax, but don’t have enough money to pay it. Yeah the IRS is going to be coming for us. Payroll next week is 50% more than this week due to having home office payroll. We are going to miss payroll again next week. It’s a never ending cycle. The end is here. I see Matt scrambling around the office, pulling his hair, looking like a ghost in all aspects. “Dead man Walking”. I also heard that their Financial Partners are calling their options. 30 day notices to come current on rents, Lines of Credit, and Insurance Settlements, or be faced with Forced Bankruptcy.

Going to the news cannot make them pay sooner than later. They have no money. They can’t pay for something that they don’t have. Paper Checks is just a ploy to buy another day worth of collections to make payroll. The real issue is next week. If they use next Monday’s collections to fund today’s payroll, that puts them 200,000-300,000 in the whole for next weeks collections. Oh, and if they couldn’t make payroll, do you think they paid Cigna Insurance, Taxes, Utilities, marketing,…. The Ship is sunk, and Matt Boyle is Skunked. The end isn’t coming, it’s already here.

Haha! This is hilarious
Apparently I heard from my friend who works at a landmark. That the checks aren’t clearing either. Everyone at her facility has tried to cash or deposit and they have bounced.
I work at Fern Valley and my mobile deposit went through but it made no funds available. Like what the hell. I have rent due to pay. How can a deposit go through, but no funds be available?
There is a difference between accepting the check and honoring it. The banks have to verify the funds are there.
@sunshine is it though? There are employees that up and went to Arkansas to help the patients transition. Not for landmark but for the the recovery of our like minded people. Somenpaying double living expenses between oks and an airbnb there. If they aren’t making payroll don’t think they are going to pay the living expense allowance promised? So they have paid the entire month of February, per airbnb contract, and may not get paid. That isn’t funny… that’s FUCKED! And the patients… they don’t deserve this. I don’t find anything funny and it’s a very privledged position to say that.
I think its hilarious that the current Controller and SVP of Finance (Brad Shaver) acts like he hasn’t been complicit in all of this…dont you have a fiduciary duty to defend the company against IRS audits? Won’t this little stain on your resume wreck your career? And on another note, why was Justin Hartman trying to penetrate all of these groups?
What exactly is hilarious about employees not being paid and funds not being available, Sunshine? Just trying to understand your “humor”. I have yet to see or hear one single thing that is funny much less hilarious about ANYTHING going on with Landmark…
More layoffs at corporate yesterday too. Maybe now everything will be sunshine and roses again. I bet the Boyle family will be in bankruptcy by end of February. Everyone at home office has cleared all their personal belongings in fear of showing up to work and being locked out.

Everybody needs to calm down. Paychecks going paper was all part of a plan to cut costs and right the ship. We are not going bankrupt, and in fact have plenty of capital projects in the works that should close in the coming months. There is no immediate threat to this institution. The rumors are doing more harm than good.

Lies. This is a typical response from someone like Matt or C-suite that are delusional and put their head in the sand rather than “speak the truth”. Whoever typed this has zero awareness as to how many times Landmark employees have been lied to and how many times Matt and C-suite has promised things and has done the exact opposite. Employees and former employees are well aware of the amount of debt that Landmark has with banks, pharmacy, insurance, contractors, construction, etc. Why should employees believe a company that constantly lies to employees about literally everything, lied to the press and lied to the public about what happened with the sentinel events in the last year? There is no righting the ship. The ship has struck an iceberg, and the people who knew better jumped ship into the life boats months ago, the people who thought they could ride it out a bit longer have jumped ship but are without a boat and are drowning, and those that remain are just going to go down with the ship. Shame on anyone who continues to try and protect this company. Employees deserve better. Clients deserve better. Matt and Cliff Boyle created a substance use recovery company and operated it like a real estate company. This company deserves to be shut down, and those of us who actually care about people in recovery, are not going to stop. Landmark lied, people died.
Jesus! I was going through the onboarding process for this company when a friend of mine hooked me up with a different opportunity so I went that direction. Certainly glad I didn’t jump on the Landmark ship!
